You can AWFULIZE about all the current turmoil in the world and tap away its effects on you with EFT. By digging down to the bottom of the emotions brought up by recent traumatic events, you can do your part in cleaning up the global energy field. The intention for this blog is to outline the steps for you to Let Magic Happen in your life this year. The blog is coordinated with the monthly newsletter which features a different clinical topic each month.

Monthly blogs entries include a short video detailing the process involved in each sequential step of the EDANVIR tapping protocol which can be found on the EFT tapping handout. This protocol is the same one I use with clients in my private practice. After the EFT steps there will be additional breathwork, shaking, imagery and color reframing components.
The third step in the EDANVIR protocol is “A” for AWFULIZE your tapping issue as demonstrated on the video and detailed here. We moved last month from the ENERGIZE first step to the DESENSTIZE second step by repeatedly tapping on a reminder phrase, using “a terrible emotional trauma from the past” as a generic example. This month we will dig deeper into the emotions while tapping on the same points. For people with severe trauma, the opposite approach may be necessary.
If you had difficulty with steps one and two, then you may need to put safe distance between you and the issue to be able to work on it. In the EFT movie technique you use the issue as the title of a movie, and then proceed through the trauma one frame at a time, stopping and tapping as you go. The EFT tearless trauma technique creates more distance by having you tap only on what it would be like just to think about the issue, then moving safely on from there to get closer to the trauma.
However, if you got off to a good start with steps one and two, this step is your opportunity to get to the bottom of your trauma. Many breakthroughs using EFT come as a result of accessing the aspects of issues that you have avoided during previous attempts at therapy. Tap on any related targets or themes that come up during the process, even using exaggeration to move past denial and get to the core issues. The goal is to work up to tapping on the worst imaginable possibility.
Switch hands and sides of the face from step two and start with the right Eyebrow point tapping on the original reminder phrase. Move to the Side of Eye point and exaggerate, “It was even worse than I remember.” Move to the Under Eye point and emphasize ongoing importance of the issue, “It still haunts me every day.” Move to the Under Nose point and focus on resistance to change, “I’ve tried everything and nothing works.”
Move to the Chin point and key in to the physical aspects, “This issue is stuck in my body.” Move to the Collarbone point and reference past related trauma, “It reminds me of another older trauma.” Move to the Under Arm point and reflect on old wounds, “I thought I had dealt with that years ago.” Move to the Under Breast point and invoke worst fear, “I’m afraid it will happen again and be even worse.” Move to the Top of Head point and return to the original reminder phrase.
Take a deep breath in and imagine inhaling your favorite color throughout your body. Exhale and blow out a different color that represents the issue you are tapping on. Repeat the color breathing as many times as needed to clear out the awfulized trauma from your body. Allow the negative energy to drain into the ground through your feet to be recycled by the earth.
Now you are done with the AWFULIZE step, and you are ready to go on to the next step which will be “N” for NEUTRALIZE in April.
