On January 8, 2007, my friend Christopher Bledsoe, Sr., had a most unusual encounter with the Divine Feminine in the form of three angels who healed him of longstanding Crohn’s disease. His otherworldly UFO experience is well documented in The Fayetteville Incident, a 2008 Discovery Channel TV show featuring interviews by a team of MUFON investigators. His extraterrestrial visitations are ongoing, and in 2012 the angels brought him to meet the White Lady, an ET version of the Blessed Mother. The pandemic is giving people vivid, unusual dreams as detailed in research by my colleague from the International Society for the Study of Dreams, Harvard professor Deidre Barrett. The two main patterns of dreams she described were about getting sick and dying from the virus or about metaphorical apocalyptic fears of bugs, zombies, natural disasters, shadowy figures, monsters, or mass shooters. Referencing 2 famous songs in one title is a bit over the top, but extreme times like these require extraordinary measures to free us from our limiting beliefs. R. E. M.’s It’s the End of the World as We Know It was released in 1987, the year also infamous for the Black Monday stock market crash. Prince’s 1999 was released in 1982, but became the party theme song for the Y2K millennium apocalypse that fortunately turned out to be a nothing burger.

Many of our parents and grandparents lived through the 1929 Crash and Great Depression, so we likely have inherited genetic memories of extreme panic that are being reactivated and amplified by the media doomsday machine. Limiting beliefs can negatively impact your ability to attract abundance during this time of scarcity. The worst charley horse of my life happened spontaneously one day in 1987 with a severe calf cramp coming out of the blue and causing me to collapse to the floor in agony. I crawled over to the bookshelf to find a little blue book I had just purchased a few weeks before. It was Louise Hay’s Heal Your Body: The Mental Causes for Physical Illness and the Metaphysical Way to Overcome Them. Although there seems to be little scientific basis for these associations, there is more often than not a nugget of truth in them which can be useful to guide the mysterious process of self-healing. Deeper psychospiritual meanings can be hidden in such somatic metaphors as described in my new Transforming Symptoms as Metaphors blog.

“Little Betsy is going home now.” I was dreaming one morning when I heard the familiar voice of a woman who was waving good-bye to me. She looked like my Aunt Betty, but years younger than my first memories of her. She had been sick for a long time, but I hadn’t thought about her in months. I called my mother and found out her sister had died that night. I had never heard her called Betsy, and she said it was a pet nickname only used by my Uncle Walt.
